Drone footage cuts for listings

The best seconds of each flight, color matched to the ground footage and placed where they help a buyer understand the lot and the street.

What drone footage is for

In a listing video, drone shots answer the questions ground footage can't: how big the lot is, what's behind the fence, how close the neighbors are, and what the street looks like. They work best as an opening that sets the scene and as a short return near the end, with the interior tour in between.

Trimming the flight

A drone pilot might fly for ten minutes to get forty seconds worth using. The useful parts are usually the middle of each move: the steady stretch of a rise, an orbit or a push toward the front door. We cut away the takeoff, the turns between moves and any drift at the end, and we pick the pass where the horizon is level and the speed is even.

Matching air and ground

Drone cameras and ground cameras rarely agree on color. The sky in one is bluer, the grass in the other is greener. We match them so the cut from the air to the front door doesn't jump, and we keep the color profile of the drone consistent across flights shot at different times of day.

Lot lines and labels

If you want property lines or labels for nearby features drawn over the footage, send the plat or a marked-up map. We'll draw what the document shows, and we'll add a short note that lines are approximate unless the seller has a survey to back them.

For pilots

We edit only. Flight permissions, airspace authorization and anything else that comes with flying stay with the pilot on the job. If you are a pilot who sends footage to agents, we can deliver graded, trimmed clips for you to pass along, or a finished cut under your name.

Questions

What files should the pilot send?

The original files from the drone's card, at full resolution. If the pilot shot in a flat color profile, say so; it gives more room for color correction.

Can you fix a tilted horizon?

Usually. Small tilts can be leveled with a slight crop. Large tilts or shaky flights in strong wind are harder, and we'll tell you if a clip can't be saved.
